Combination Therapy for Patients "Sleep Apnea"

If you often snore while sleeping, often waking up not fresh, often wakes up at night because of feeling of choking, waking up with worn condition, often feel sleepy and tired during the day despite already enough sleep, be careful, you could be suffering from Obstructive Sleep apnea (OSA).

Obstructive Sleep apnea (OSA) is a condition that causes respiratory air flow ceases during sleep, so the availability of the inhibition or constriction in the respiratory tract.

Such a situation causes the supply of oxygen in the body decreases, so that patients with
Obstructive Sleep apnea (OSA) are unable to sleep soundly. This is what causes OSA patients often feel tired and sleepy during the day.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) can occur due to a swelling on several organs in the mouth and throat, such as swelling of the tonsils and uvula. In addition, the size is too large tongue can also cause OSA.
Increased risk of OSA among others for people with obesity and advanced age. Moreover, bad habits such as smoking, drinking alcohol and consume drugs Sedative or tranquilizer in a long time, can also aggravate the condition.

Treatment of OSA depends on the extent to which a person is suffering from OSA. Mild OSA can be treated only with a screw athletics respiratory muscle. Sports such as gymnastics cheek, fitness focused to the neck region, and cycling can be an option, because such exercise can make oral cavity and neck muscles stronger. Strengthening these muscles do because OSA patients generally have sagged in respiratory tract organ.

If it's severe, can be treated with OSA underwent surgery.  Level of operations, depending on the condition of patient. Due to a variety of causes of OSA, the treatment also should consult with an expert first. One of the ways to see how far suffered OSA is a sleep study.

With Sleep Study, note the exact treatment method for patients. This method makes it possible to see the patient's quality of sleep so you can determine what is the extent of OSA suffered.

Use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure as (CPAP) can be used to help breathing OSA patients as non-operative treatment. Additionally avoid sleeping supine, but sidewise sleep and regular exercise is the easiest way.

Combination therapy could reduce the symptoms of the patient's condition sleep apnea worse time because you are at a plateau.

When patients with sleep disorders such as obstruction sleep apnea (OSA) to travel to the mountains or other high areas, they are likely to feel the lower oxygen levels in the blood, so it may worsen their condition.

OSA is a condition that causes the air flow stopped breathing during sleep because of persecution or a narrowing of the respiratory tract.

In this preliminary study, the researchers examined whether combination therapy Swiss drug acetazolamide (Diamox) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) can help patients with OSA.

Acetazolamide is a respiratory stimulant used to treat diseases related to respiratory especially when in areas with thin oxygen levels such as mountains. While CPAP is a machine tool involves providing constant air pressure to keep the airway open while sleeping.

A total of 51 people involved as objects of research in the study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in December. Participants usually live in areas with an altitude of about 2,600 feet above sea level, while the combination therapy as they do in the mountains with a height of 5,300 and 8,500 feet above sea level.

The combination of acetazolamide and CPAP can increase oxygen levels in the blood of patients when patients are awake or asleep. In addition, this therapy also provides better control of OSA, including reducing the time woke up in the night, compared with CPAP use only.
